Casper Ruud Withdraws from Wimbledon 2025 Due to Recurring Knee Injury

Norwegian tennis star Casper Ruud has officially withdrawn from Wimbledon 2025, citing a lingering knee injury that has plagued his recent performances. The world No. 16 and two-time French Open finalist had been expected to begin his grass-court campaign at the ATP 250 Mallorca Championships, but pulled out ahead of schedule due to fitness concerns.

🏥 Injury Timeline and Recovery

Ruud’s injury woes began during the 2025 clay season, culminating in a surprising second-round exit at Roland Garros to unseeded Nuno Borges. He required a medical timeout during that match, raising alarms about his physical condition.

“He’s back on the court, and things are going well, but it looks like playing best-of-five sets is unfortunately a bit too soon,” said his manager Tina Falster, confirming that Ruud will now target a return at the Swiss Open in Gstaad, starting July 14.

🎾 Wimbledon Record and Missed Opportunity

Ruud’s best showing at Wimbledon has been three second-round appearances, and his withdrawal marks a significant setback in a season that once promised a major breakthrough. The 26-year-old had earlier claimed the Madrid Open title, but struggled to transition to grass after a heavy defeat to Jannik Sinner in Rome.

🔜 What’s Next for Ruud?

With Wimbledon beginning June 30, Ruud’s absence opens up the draw for other contenders. His team remains optimistic about a full recovery in time for the European summer swing, with Gstaad and the North American hard-court season on the horizon.
