India’s top shooters Anish Bhanwala and Narmada Nithin delivered standout performances at the National Shooting Selection Trials 3 & 4, clinching top honours in their respective events held at the Trishul Shooting Range, Maharana Pratap Sports College, Dehradun.
🔫 Anish Bhanwala Dominates Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol
Former world champion and Olympian Anish Bhanwala continued his fine form by winning the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol T4 final with a score of 30, edging out Navy’s Pradeep Singh Shekhawat (29) in a closely fought contest. Haryana’s Adarsh Singh secured third place with 23 hits.
- Bhanwala also topped the T4 qualification round with 584 points, completing a double victory in both qualification and final.
- This marks his second consecutive final win in the trials, reinforcing his position as a frontrunner for upcoming international events.
🎯 Narmada Nithin Claims Women’s 10m Air Rifle Gold
Tamil Nadu’s Narmada Nithin emerged victorious in the women’s 10m air rifle final, scoring 253.7 in the 24-shot final to defeat Sonam Uttam Maskar (252.0), a World Cup Final silver medallist, by 1.7 points.
- Rajshree Anilkumar of Delhi took third place with 230.0 after 22 shots.
- In the qualification round, Narmada had finished sixth with 629.5, while Mehuli Ghosh topped with 632.2, narrowly ahead of Sonam (632.1).
🏅 Competitive Field and Upcoming Finals
The trials featured a star-studded lineup including Shreya Agrawal, Vidarsha K Vinod, Ayonika Paul, and Dnyaneshwari Patil, all of whom made the final cut. The event continues with finals in 10m Air Rifle Women T4, 25m Pistol Women T4, and 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men T3 scheduled for June 28.
