Cheteshwar Pujara Hails KL Rahul as ‘Most Correct Batsman’ in Team India, Urges Him to Convert Starts into Big Scores

Veteran Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara has heaped praise on KL Rahul, calling him the “most technically correct batsman” in the current Indian Test squad. The remark came during the ongoing India vs England Test at Headingley, where Rahul impressed with a composed 47 off 75 balls* in challenging conditions.

🧠 Pujara’s Take on Rahul’s Technique

“Technically, he’s one of the most correct batsmen in the Indian Test team. The way he times the ball, his footwork, and how he judges length—he looks like a complete Test player,” Pujara said during the broadcast.

However, Pujara also emphasized the need for Rahul to convert his starts into big scores, noting that the 33-year-old often gets out after settling in.

“He has to score big runs. He’s capable, but sometimes he gets off to a good start and then gets out. Hopefully, he carries on and gets a big one tomorrow,” he added.

🏏 Rahul’s Role in India’s Test Setup

Rahul’s ability to anchor one end has become crucial, especially with stroke-makers like Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and Karun Nair around him. His calm presence allows others to play more freely, making him a vital cog in India’s batting unit.
