Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has firmly stated that his conscience remains entirely clear regarding his past professional relationship with Manchester City, following the club’s recent disciplinary findings regarding Premier League rule violations. The Spanish tactician, who previously served as assistant coach at the Etihad Stadium before taking the helm in north London, addressed the situation directly when pressed by sports journalists.

Background of the Situation

Manchester City faced significant scrutiny after independent regulatory commissions determined the club breached numerous financial regulations over multiple seasons. The verdict sent shockwaves throughout European football, prompting widespread discussion across various media outlets regarding the implications for individuals who previously contributed to the organization during the investigated periods.

Arteta spent three and a half years working alongside Pep Guardiola as part of the coaching staff, helping shape the squad into a dominant domestic force before accepting the managerial position at Arsenal in December 2019. Given his prominent role during a portion of the timeline scrutinized by investigators, questions naturally arose regarding awareness or involvement in administrative matters.

Arteta’s Public Stance

Addressing the media ahead of an upcoming fixture, Arteta expressed complete tranquility regarding his conduct and responsibilities during his tenure in Manchester. He emphasized that his focus at all times was strictly centered on coaching, player development, and tactical preparation on the training pitch.

When asked if the recent revelations cast any shadow over his time with the reigning champions, the Arsenal boss asserted that he operates with total transparency and integrity. He maintained that every professional action taken during those years was dedicated entirely to supporting the team and contributing positively to the sporting environment.

Implications for Arsenal

While the fallout from the disciplinary rulings continues to reverberate across the Premier League, Arteta remains fully committed to his current project with Arsenal. The club is currently locked in a fierce domestic and continental campaign, requiring total concentration from the coaching staff and squad alike.

Club supporters and leadership have largely viewed the comments as a definitive closing of the chapter, allowing the manager to direct his full attention toward upcoming matches and the pursuit of silverware. As the broader sporting landscape digests the unprecedented developments surrounding Manchester City, Arteta continues to project absolute confidence in his personal integrity and professional legacy.
