India made a commanding start at the World Para Powerlifting World Cup 2025 in Beijing, clinching four medals—one gold, one silver, and two bronze—on the opening day of the prestigious event. The performance marks a strong beginning to India’s international campaign and boosts its qualification hopes for the 2026 World Championships and Paris 2028 Paralympic Games.

The veteran lifter rebounded from an initial failed attempt at 140kg to successfully lift 145kg and 150kg, showcasing his experience and technical prowess.
- Gulfam Ahmed (Men’s Elite 59kg):

Gulfam opened India’s medal tally with a 151kg lift, after a solid 145kg opener. His third attempt at 153kg was disallowed, but his earlier lifts secured a podium finish.

- Ramubhai Bambhava (Men’s Elite 72kg):
- 🥉 Bronze
Ramubhai lifted 151kg in his first attempt. Though his subsequent lifts at 155kg and 156kg were not validated, his initial effort earned him a medal in the Best Lift classification.

🌍 Global Stage and Indian Aspirations
Organized under the aegis of World Para Powerlifting (WPPO), the tournament features elite athletes from over 40 countries and serves as a key qualification event for upcoming global championships. The Indian contingent, backed by the Paralympic Committee of India, is competing with a renewed focus on discipline, preparation, and podium finishes.
