New Zealand sprint sensation Zoe Hobbs has shattered her own Oceania 100m record, clocking a blistering 10.94 seconds at the prestigious Ostrava Golden Spike 2025 meet in the Czech Republic. The performance, part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold, marks a new personal best and cements Hobbs’ status as one of the fastest women in the world.
Third Place Finish, First-Class Record
Despite finishing third behind Liberia’s Thelma Davies (10.91s) and Ivory Coast’s Marie-Josée Ta Lou-Smith (10.92s), Hobbs’ time is now the fastest ever recorded by an athlete from Oceania, surpassing her previous mark of 10.96s set in 2023.
“I came out really low, almost stumbled, but managed to hold it. I’m mind-blown but super stoked,” Hobbs said after the race.
A Rising Star on the Global Stage
The 27-year-old Kiwi sprinter has been in top form, with consistent training and recent performances pointing to a breakthrough. Her explosive start and strong finish in Ostrava signal her readiness for Olympic-level competition, with eyes now set on the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
